Bausch Health’s oral health division OraPharma is all set to launch a brand new gum disease awareness campaign “Cover Your Bases” with renowned World Series Champion Alex Rodriguez.
Bausch Health is a pharmaceutical company that offers a wide range of healthcare solutions. These include prescription medicines, over-the-counter drugs, and medical devices. Bausch Health is committed to conducting research for creating innovative therapies and treatments. They strive to make their products accessible to patients worldwide.
This new campaign invites individuals to consult their dentist for treatment options. It also includes an educational component about gum disease. It will launch in June coinciding with Oral Health Month.
The campaign’s face is Alex Rodriguez, famously known as A-Rod. He has 696 career home runs to his name and won the World Series with the Yankees in 2009.
Alex Rodriguez, a former professional baseball player, played as a third baseman and shortstop for various teams. He was known for his impressive hitting skills and power at the plate. A-Rod made multiple accomplishments, including multiple Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards.
The latest advertising campaign builds on his previous role as OraPharma’s spokesperson for Arestin, an antibiotic used in combination with scaling and root planing to treat gum disease.
This week, Rodriguez spoke on CBS News about his own experience with gum disease. On the news segment, he shared his recent encounter with the dentist where he was surprisingly diagnosed with a gum disease. He was also shocked to find out that over 65 million Americans have this gum disease.
The campaign includes an Arestin-specific website that is focused on Rodriguez. It displays signs and symptoms of gum disease and also talks about the medication.
Arestin is a medication used to treat gum disease. It comes in the form of a powder that is applied to the infected gums. Arestin helps to kill the bacteria that cause gum infections.
Gum disease is a common dental problem affecting the gums and tissues. It is usually caused by poor oral hygiene, such as not brushing regularly. When plaque builds up on the teeth, it can irritate the gums. This leads to inflammation.
The gums may become red, and bleed easily. If left untreated, it can turn into periodontitis, where the gums pull away from the teeth. This can result in tooth loss. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene help prevent gum disease.
βThis campaign is the first of its kind for OraPharma, and we couldn’t be more excited to have Alex onboard to share his experience not only to help educate patients about this often misunderstood and underdiagnosed disease, but also to encourage them to talk to their dentist,β said Tom Stern, vice president and general manager at OraPharma, in a press release.
βWe hope that this campaign will help bring awareness to gum disease and empower others to take charge of their dental health by seeking out appropriate treatment options that may help manage this serious disease.β
