After more than two decades of being known as AmerisourceBergen, the pharmaceutical services company has decided to rebrand itself as Cencora. The new name reflects the company’s vision of being a leader in delivering innovative solutions for the healthcare industry.

The name change was first announced in January 2023, but it became official on August 30, 2023, when the company started trading under the new ticker symbol “COR” on the New York Stock Exchange. The new name also unifies the company’s 46,000 employees, as well as its charitable and venture arms, under one simple and memorable brand.

The new name underscores Cencora’s experience and vision when it comes to connecting manufacturers, providers, pharmacies and patients, and ensuring the consistent, reliable flow of treatments to those who need them at a time of growing complexity the company explained.

As part of the rebranding, the company also renamed its not-for-profit organization as the Cencora Impact Foundation, which supports various causes related to health and wellbeing. The company also donated $5 million to the foundation to mark the occasion.

Additionally, the company’s corporate venture fund, which invests in emerging healthcare companies, has been renamed as Cencora Ventures. The fund aims to foster innovation and collaboration in the healthcare sector.

Today is a significant and exciting milestone for Cencora. Our new name is a reminder of our customers, their patients, and our team members who are at the center of everything we do. It represents the healthier futures we strive for serving as a trusted industry partner that prioritizes innovation, advocates for patient access, and advances strategic partnerships across the global pharmaceutical value chain.”
